KASB Direct trading software’s installation is not working in Windows 7 64-bit. I am trying to install the latest version, which is 2.0.2. Why isn’t it working? I used it in XP and it was working without any issues. Why isn’t it working in Windows Vista and 7? Is it because I am using 64-bit Windows?
There is a simple old school trick to make this software work in the newer Windows versions. Follow these steps:
1. Right click on “KASB Installer Setup” and select “Properties”.
2. Now, click on “Compatibility tab.” Under “Compatibility Mode,” click/check the box that says, “Run this program in compatibility mode for.”
3. From the dropped down menu, select “Windows 2000.”
4. Finally, click on “Apply” then “OK.” The setup should work now.
It is both disappointing and shocking to see a stock market trading platform installation work like this. KASB should have made the necessary changes to its software to make it compatible with all new Windows includes 8, 8.1, and 10. But instead, they are telling its customers to follow the aforementioned procedure to install the software that clients use to do real trading in the stock market. If they can’t make their software compatible with new Windows, I wonder how secure it really is?
Companies continuously release updates for their software. These updates solve compatibility issues and more importantly, they update the code to keep the software safe. Security updates are necessary especially if we are talking about a stock trading platform, but KASB don’t seem to be bothered by this fact. On KASB’s official download page, there is a link to a .pdf file; it contains User-Software-Manual. At the time of writing this article, this file is showing instructions for version 1.9.6 of KASB trading software. They don’t seem to have a strong IT department!
Pick any US based Stock market trading company; their software would be superior to that of KASB in every way. KASB’s trading platform has a decade old design. Nothing about it seems modern or up-to-date. It has come to my attention recently that KASB is now offering a web-based-trading platform, which they are calling Eclipse Terminal. This seems to be good move if this new platform does not lack in functionality and design like their Java-based trading software does. I tried to logon in Eclipse-trading-terminal but I am seeing this error message “0000**** is not yet configure to use this application.” It has a grammar mistake. :) KASB Direct, please hire some professional coders, designers, and writers. My guess is that we would not see any major improvements in this new trading-platform, so don’t get your hopes up too high!
